3 Organizations That Are Doing Their Bit to Rid India of Mental Illness and Suicide.

With the whole mental health revolution that’s sweeping the country at the moment, businesses have sprung up all over – providing mental health services.

This is us doing our part and giving them a friendly helping hand. So if you know anyone who is suffering from any mental illness like bipolar disorder, chronic depression, mood disorders, etc. make sure you refer them to these folks.

1) YourDost – When I was conceptualizing the idea for The Wall and Us, I reached out to my old blogger friends. It was then I was introduced to YourDost. They were still starting out then.

Ever since then I have been following their journey very closely right down to when they raised their Series A funding.

They are an inspiration and I hope to god I get to meet Richa Singh (The Founder) someday.

YourDost has trained experts who can help you with your mental illness. You can talk to their experts for free or get an appointment to talk to a counsellor for a nominal fee.

Although I must include, very recently, probably due to excessive demand, the counsellors seem a little distant and come off as uncaring.

But, they’re going amazing work and deserve every applause they can get.

Keep going YourDost. We are all with you.

2) Live Laugh Love Foundation – Live Laugh Love Foundation with their #DobaaraPoocho campaign blew up all over the internet.

With Deepika Padukone as one of their co-founders, they’ve been educating people all over India about mental health awareness. They’ve been constantly working towards removing the stigma that surrounds mental health.

Not a lot of people know this, but, when I was working on choosing a definite direction for our magazine I reached out to them.

I shared my story with them, told them about the work we were doing and also asked if we could involve Deepika Ma’am in a segment where she could tell our readers about her own tryst with loneliness.

They were so kind and considerate. It was endearing.

Keep up the good work Live, Laugh, Love Foundation.

3) Aasra – The Aasra Foundation is more of a Suicide Prevention helpline. If you or someone you care about regularly contemplates suicide then make sure you reach out to them.

They are available 24x7 for you – on notice and on call. So if you are wondering – Who do I talk to if I am suicidal? – reach out to them.

Give them a chance.

These three organizations together are striving to make our beloved country a happier and healthier place. Reach out to them anytime or visit their website to know more about them.

And one final thing – If you ever need a friend to talk to, always remember, we’re here for you.

We care. And we give a shit.

Let’s together make this world a better place.
